Think twice this Christmas
You know Christmas for me is a time that we try and spend time with people we care about. It’s not about the gifts, it about how we treat each other a gift will never change behaviour.
This year one of my friends really wanted to loose weight and give up smoking and you know what she smashed it. One day when I was going round to see her I took her the biggest bunch of flowers I could find. The smile on her face was priceless, but you know she did it and I wanted to show her then how much she had achieved then, I didn’t need to wait until Christmas to do something. And to be honest I won’t be buying her a gift for Christmas. Does this make me a bad person? Not in my eyes. I showed her how much she meant to me then the moment I handed her the flowers.
Not everyone celebrates Christmas, opinions are personal so respect that. One size does not fit all.
Some people are alone and have no family for many reasons. Do you know your neighbours? Could you spare a few minutes for one that maybe alone? A card, a small plant or even a sweet treat.
Remember this Christmas not to look at other people’s pictures and compare what you have with them. The picture is a narrow snap shot of one single moment and may not be all it appears.
Resetting
We have just spent 5 fabulous days in Chamonix. There were many reasons for this trip but one was a break for me from the every day grind of life.
I have used the time to help reset my mental health, to give my brain space from the daily grind.
Now you don’t have to adventure miles away from home to do this but away from home is key.
In the main I have escaped:
- The daily work job in health and social care.
- The current fight of getting the children to school.
- The daily house chores, washing, cleaning, tidying, cooking etc
And I have gained:
- Many fantastic memories with my family.
- Mind space, ready for the next innings.
- A tidy house when I get home, I always make sure we return to a clean and tidy house.
- A s*** load of washing, that can be done at the weekend.
And whilst I would love to stay here, I also can’t wait to get home to plan the next adventure and sleep in my own bed!
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc it’s been a pleasure visiting you.

Another year
Happy birthday to my wonderful husband 🥳
Thank you for all you do for us
Thank you for holding me tight when I feel sad
Thank you for helping us finish our wonderful home
Thank you for the beautiful children
Thank you for being you
Today I will let you crack all the rubbish jokes and innuendoes you wish without complaining! 😜🤣😁🥂🥳💕
An angels birthday
Happy heavenly birthday to my eldest step daughter, I love you more than words could ever express.
I miss you every day.
I try my best every day to take the family to the end of the day happy and with no troubles in their minds. Some days are much more successful than others and you are my drive to do that. I want every second we have to count.
No one could ever understand the challenges and darkness we face, but we face it together. The resilience that this family has is truly inspiring.
Asten Jones you are the only person to truly break my heart when you flew to heaven.
👼🏼💔
Exploring
Every step we take we just fall deeper in love with this beautiful place. ❄️🏔
Time
Stop waiting for time, time isn’t waiting for you.
Making time to do the things that you desire will happen when you make it happen. 5 days with my family, exploring and creating memories in beautiful Chamonix.
Time well spent
I don’t think people understand how stressful it is to explain what is going on in your head, when you don’t even understand it yourself.
Sometimes just listening and giving someone time to release all the random and tangled thoughts in their mind is the most valuable time you will ever give.
Tuesday Thoughts 💭
As Christmas Day is fast approaching remember to take a moment before you get dragged into the ‘gifting’ hype pushed at us all.
Know who you are buying for, do you need to buy for everyone? For me the people I spend Christmas Day with are those that I will share gifts with, with a few exceptions like my Mum and Dad. I give not to receive but to show them what they mean to me. Gifts do not have to be extravagant but they should be well thought through and individual to the person you are gifting.
There are so many material things that we would all ‘like’ but time with someone is more precious than anything else. Christmas for me is a time when we should share our time with the ones we love and that should always be the most important part.
