Health Benefits of Walking

Walking increases cardiovascular fitness, and boost muscle power and endurance.

It improves self-perception and self-esteem, mood and sleep quality, and it reduces stress, anxiety and fatigue.

Is low impact, requires minimal equipment, can be done at any time of day and can be performed at your own pace.

Walking with others can turn exercise into an enjoyable social occasion.

Physical activity does not have to be vigorous or done for long periods in order to improve your health.

Keeping busy

It’s been a busy work day but coming back to walk along this beautiful beach makes it worth it.

I have clocked up 550 miles in the last 24 hours and 300 more on the way tomorrow, but it has been worth it. Over the next year I will be making a few of these trips for a specific project all working to improve the health and social care sector in relation to medicines. Working to make positive effective change, going to be a challenging but rewarding project.

And this walk is everything after a long day 🧡

Mini adventure

So today we decided that we would stay fairly local when exploring. After getting in the car and picking a direction we ended up in Whitstable.

We were on a mission to get some food having skipped breakfast and we reached The Lobster Shack. With a fabulous menu it was a hard choice they even had a BBQ outside with freshly barbecued fish if you wished. As it was a beautiful day we opted to sit outside; both inside and outside were busy but there were still lots tables available with people coming and going frequently. The service was extremely fast and there was a good system for ordering food and drinks.

Already planning another visit with my brother and sister in law when they are next visiting Kent.

To let our food go down we walked along the Tankerton Slopes and back, this is an easy gentle walk on the flat so accessible for everyone. Sometimes the unplanned things are the best.

729 Days

Entering this week with as much positivity as possible. I thank those who over the past 729 days have shared their stories with me and who have taken the time to listen to mine. As my journey continues I aim to provide support to others by challenging myself to climb Kilimanjaro and raising money for Child Bereavement UK. Making a positive difference to others is something I can work to achieve. If you are able to donate please check out my virgin money giving page every penny will go towards helping bereaved families.

Monday Motivation

Don’t let anyone let your colour fade. It’s easy to say but harder to do, but I’m friends with you because you are you. #MentalHealth

I needed to escape earlier this evening, I felt overwhelmed and I just wanted sometime alone. So I put on my walking boots and walked all the stress away, thought of nothing and enjoyed just being outside. Never under estimate what a walk can do for you.

It’s not always playtime

Perfect long weekend, wish I could do it all over again.

Tomorrow it’s back to work as it’s not always time to ‘play’. Back to trying to push further forward in my project; let’s see what this ‘work week’ has in hold for me.

A glimpse of Kew Gardens glass art instillation

Had a lovely day exploring Kew Gardens yesterday. The Chihuly Studio glass art is stunning, so many to find in the glass houses and around the grounds.

Keep following for the full blog post coming soon.

Samphire Hoe

It was a little misty out today.

Samphire Hoe is at the foot of the cliffs between Dover and Folkestone. It is ideal for a short walk for many abilities as there is a wheelchair and pushchair friendly path.

There is a small tea Kiosk serving a variety of snacks and drinks.

The car park is pay and display but is not expensive.

Today the views were limited but still beautiful, on a clear day you can see France.
