No matter the time of year, no matter the weather they always love the sea.
Kilimanjaro
I never thought I would be that person, never thought I would loose someone so precious to me, Asten a wonderful daughter, amazing sister and loyal friend. After a serious car accident Asten was air lifted to hospital but devastatingly she lost the battle for her life later the same day.
This has completely shattered our lives, we have had to learn to live again and to deal with the huge unseen mental health issues.
Since Asten passed on 21st May 2017 I have had some of the most heartbreaking conversations with my 2 boys, ‘mum I am so scared when am I going to die?’ and ‘what’s the point if we are just going to die anyway’. And I have felt like a failure not being able to give them the answers they desire. And its thanks to the support of my family, friends and bereavement Councillor that I am getting through this unimaginable loss.
Showing the children that life can go on and it’s what you make of it, is one of the reasons why I am taking on the Kilimanjaro challenge for Child Bereavement UK. Secondly that others can have access to the support after such a loss and finally for me to show myself how strong I still am and I will continue to be.
So if you can please support every single penny will go towards helping a parent or sibling who has been bereaved of a son/daughter/brother/sister/mum/dad.
Monday Motivation
Don’t feel bad for making decisions that upset other people. Your not responsible for their happiness your responsible for yours.
Mother’s Day
You see today has many mixed feelings for so many people.
Every mother and child has a unique relationship, some people no longer have their Mums, some Mums no longer have their children, some mums will never know their children, some people are trying to have children and the list goes on and on.
In our very commercialised world the shops want to sell us lots useless things to make money, don’t get me wrong some of the things are lovely but 90% is absolute rubbish that will get put in a draw after a month and sit there forever more.
Today I had breakfast made for me in bed, where we all sat together eating and chatting. A selection of flowers picked from the garden and brought to me in a vase. My son and I made my Mum a cake. I made afternoon tea for my Mum, my step Dad, the children and my husband. Mum and I went on a walk – the boys came along on their bikes. We watched the Grand Prix and laughed a lot.
THIS IS what matters doing things together making the memories to always cherish, because when we can longer have them we can look back and remember all the wonderful times we had together.
I am truly thankful at what I have and don’t take it for granted for one moment.

Exploring Herne Bay
When I was younger I lived in Herne Bay and today exploring Kent took me and my family back there.
Much of the landscape is similar but there are some big changes, the pier had a fire and so feels totally transformed from what it was when I was younger. The sports pavilion that was at the end of the pier no longer exists.
The seafront gardens are still beautifully manicured with vibrant flowers with plenty of benches to sit and eat your ice cream.
A bronze statue of Amy Johnson who was the first women to fly solo from England to Australia in 1930 stands facing the sea. She sadly lost her life off the coast of Herne Bay in January 1941.
A lovely few hours spent on the penny machines, walking along the pier, discussing the sea defences, eating ice cream and strolling along the coast line.

The Rope Walk
Was a beautiful day in Sandwich today. As I walked along the rope walk this morning my mind in a place of rest and relaxation. And I can tell you it’s been a while since I have felt this relaxed, getting outside really does help you mind release stress.
Exploring
Just the two of us 💗 exploring the Kent countryside. With our @OrdnanceSurvey map and app. We love being outside and seeing each season of the year.

What is enough?
Just being together is enough.
There is so much pressure on everyone to have material things and whilst we do need some material things what is enough?
I have clothes to wear and a house to live in.
I am lucky to have children, have a car, go on holidays and I have a job.
It’s easy to get carried away with trying to keep up with what the world shows us in images on social media.
I challenge you to take a moment to think about what you would miss the most of it was gone.
For me being together with my family is priceless. The memories of things we have done places we have been make me happier than any new pair or jeans or a car. Everything else I can work out we don’t need the most expensive or newest one out.
Get Outside
I encourage everyone to get outside for a part of their day every day.
Even when the rain is pouring put on your coat and take a moment to feel the fresh air.
Taking moments for you is key to looking after yourself.
Weekend Away
A wonderful weekend away with my beautiful mum and sister in law in Arundel, West Sussex.
I don’t often go away without my husband or children but this weekend has been lovely. I have had time to relax and just do something for me.
