Who I am
My Jones Life is a personal travel and lifestyle blog run by Tamsin Jones in the United Kingdom. This privacy policy explains what personal information I collect when you visit myjoneslife.com, why I collect it, and what I do with it.

What I collect and why
Mailing list
If you subscribe to my mailing list, I collect your email address (and your name, if you provide it). I use this to send you new posts and occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.
Comments
When you leave a comment on a post, I collect the name and email address you provide, together with your comment and your IP address. This helps with spam detection and lets me reply to you.
Contact messages
If you send me a message through the contact form, I receive your name, email address and message. I use this only to reply to you.
Site statistics (Jetpack)
I use Jetpack Stats to see how many people visit the site and which posts are popular. Jetpack collects anonymised data such as page views, referring sites and general location (country level). It does not identify you personally.
Google Analytics
I use Google Analytics (GA4) to help me understand how visitors use the site so I can improve it. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This information is processed by Google and may be stored on servers outside the UK.
If you would prefer not to be tracked by Google Analytics, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Instagram feed
My site displays my public Instagram feed. Loading these images may cause Instagram to set cookies in your browser. Please see Instagram’s own privacy policy for details.
Social sharing buttons
Some pages include buttons to share content on social networks. These services may set their own cookies if you use them.
Cookies
This site uses a small number of cookies, mainly to remember your preferences (for example if you leave a comment) and to power the analytics tools described above. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
How long I keep data
- Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Comments are kept for as long as the post they relate to is online.
- Contact emails are reviewed annually and cleared when no longer needed.
- Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of Jetpack and Google Analytics.
Sharing your data
I do not sell your data. I only share it with the services that help run the site, such as my email provider, WordPress.com / Jetpack, and Google Analytics. These services act as processors on my behalf.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask me what data I hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to object to how I use it. To make a request, please email privacy@myjoneslife.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes to this policy
If I make changes to this policy, I’ll update the date at the top of the page.
